Former Goalie Against Weah’s Ambition

By George Borteh

George Weah’s quest for the Liberian presidency is not meeting endorsement of some of his former football peers.  As the debate Weah’s ambition rages on, a one time goalie of the Lone Star, has added his voice to that many opposing voices.

Alex Weah, now in Columbus, the United States of America, says he is totally against his former boss running to become president of Liberia.

George Weah - Aspirant

The former goalie spoke to this paper via a telephone interview last weekend, stating reasons for his opposition to a Weah president, that the political situation in Liberia is not yet conductive for the CDC standard bearer, adding that he is not a politician but a well known soccer star. As such, he wants the successful football star to concentrate on advancing the game that he is best known for.

Former goalie Weah wants George Weah to withdraw from the political race and wait until he can get adjusted to the political practice in the country.

Alexander Weah was among the players of Lone Star who traveled to the United States through the initiative of George Weah to play series of friendly matches but deflected.

He has called on friends of King George Weah to prevail on him to let go his political idea.
