VP Dedicates Children’s Playground

The Government of Liberia (GOL) through the initiative of Senator Clarice Jah has dedicated a US$56,000.00 Children playground in Kakata City, Margibi County.

 

Speaking at the dedication program over the weekend, Vice President Joseph N. Boakai said Liberian children needed a good space for empowerment but that opportunity needs to be created by all Liberian parents through equal participation into those things that would help in transforming the communities of Liberia.

 Vice President Boakai told the occasion which was graced by children, parents and government officials that the Liberian government will not dash the hopes of its people but, would only achieve those things that should be done for citizens when the people who have the opportunity refuse to cooperate with the government.

Vice President Boakai said there were more private lands in Liberia that are owned by private citizens but their failure to give their land to the government and other people whose want to make contributions through developments were preventing development in Liberia.

The Vice President thanked residents of Sackie Bomoh Town for making available their land for the construction of the dedicated Children Playground in Kakata City.

Speaking earlier,  Margibi County Senior Senator Clarice Jah said the Playground will also contained a prayer chapel, swimming pool, reading room among others to help build up the capacity of children of Margibi County and beyond the counties.

She said the construction of the Children playground, was made available to the children of Liberia through help of two American Christian kids whose parents were also in Liberia for the dedication of the playground.

The Judy Brantingham and Lara Olson, mothers of the two kids that initiated the construction of the USD 56,000 children playground met Sen. Clarice Jah on face-book thereby improving their relationship and building up one the interest of kid to launched an appeal for children of Liberia for the construction of the playground thus leading one the kid to sell bread and cakes to raised the first USD10,000 that led to risen the rest of money for the construction of the playground in Kakata City, Margibi County.

Sen. Jah said her desire to increase her lobby for the project was inline with the feelings of the children and the people of Margibi County noting that over the years the children of the county did not had the opportunity to play; using those advance children’s playgrounds facilities.

The Margibi County senator said the construction of the children playground was the beginning of more projects for the people of Margibi County.
